GLENDALE, CA - May 6, 2008 - Cultures On Film, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising cultural awareness, is proud to release Welcome to the Law, an educational DVD that explains and demystifies the U.S. legal system in an entertaining, easy-to-understand format for the million of new immigrants who come to the country.

With an increasingly complex legal system, there is an overwhelming need for immigrants who come to the United States to understand the laws that govern the country and where to seek legal counsel. Geared toward the immigrant community, Welcome to the Law is a much-needed tool to assist newcomers transition to life in America and become positive members of the community.

The 80-minute DVD answers some of the most important legal topics that immigrants to the U.S. should know about and understand, including their rights under the law; how the criminal justice system works; how crimes are punished; when you need to hire an attorney; the courtroom structure; what to do if you are sued or arrested; and the types of legal resources that are available.

To reach a broad cross-section of immigrants, Welcome to the Law is subtitled in Spanish. In the next release Tagalog and Armenian subtitles will be available. Additional languages will also be added to other future version of the film.
