Duos Vice President Will Chair NATO Conference
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. & LONDON--Admiral Richard Cobbold, Duos Technologies International's Vice President of Strategic Development will chair a plenary session on "Critical Infrastructure Protection in the wider Black Sea Area," as part of an international conference on Regional Security, Energy Security, and NATO: Future Problems and Possibilities. The conference will be held at the Black Sea port of Costanta February 19-20, 2008. Prior to joining Duos Technologies, Admiral Cobbold was the director general of the British Royal United Services Institute for Defense and Security Studies (RUSI) and is internationally, regarded as an expert in global security/defense issues. This conference will be held in preparation for the 2008 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, to be held in Bucharest, Romania in April 2008 convened by NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
Sponsors of the conference will include RUSI in partnership with the European Institute for Risk, Security and Communications Management (EU RISC) and the Euro-Atlantic Council of Romania. The keynote speakers include H.E. Mr. Traian Basescu, President of Romania, and the Romanian Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Defence, and the Economy and Public Finance, together with Admiral Gheorghe Marin, the Chief of the Romanian General Staff. The program will include speakers from Bulgaria, Kuwait, Moldova, NATO, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States.
"Protecting the Critical Infrastructure in the wider Black Sea region is vitally important to NATO. Any destabilizing event would not only affect the peoples of the region, but would reach much further throughout Europe, North America and as far as Central Asia. The wider Black Sea Area is emerging as an area of significant growth, change, achievement, and a formidable potential for prosperity. We need to be sensitive to the inherent risks and potential for international tension that this type of evolution can cause. There are indeed many problems and possibilities that demand wise analysis and innovative solutions. This conference is timely and challenging," commented Admiral Cobbold. He added, "Protecting critical national infrastructures is at the core of Duos Technologies International's mission. Our company's comprehensive technology systems and innovative solutions are currently being deployed worldwide and make a significant contribution to improve security."
