Zacks Analyst Interview Highlights: Sohu.com and Aluminum Corp. of China

CHICAGO--Zacks.com releases the latest Analyst Interview. Today's interview is with senior analyst Paul Cheung, who discusses Sohu.com (Nasdaq: SOHU) and Aluminum Corp. of China (NYSE: ACH).

A synopsis of today's Analyst Interview is presented below. The full article can be read at www.zacks.com.

If you had to choose two or three top Buy recommendations under your coverage, what would they be?

Sohu.com (Nasdaq: SOHU) is one of my top Buy recommendations because the company is the official sponsor of Internet Content Service for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. So the company can benefit the most from the explosive advertising activities related to the games.

Aluminum Corp. of China (NYSE: ACH), also known as Chalco, is another of my top Buy recommendations because the company is traded at a big discount to its global peers and can continue to benefit from China's fast growing economy. Demand for aluminum and alumina in China continues to be very strong at the present time and into the near-term outlook.

How would you advise investors in Chinese companies to address their Chinese holdings? Buy more? Stay where they are?

I would advise investors to buy more Chinese companies for the following reasons: the Chinese economy will continue to grow fast in spite of the slowdown of the U.S. economy. In fact, China no longer needs a favorable U.S. economic environment in order to continue its stellar growth. Also, most Chinese companies can benefit from China's fast growing economy. Finally, Chinese currency will continue to appreciate over the U.S. dollar.

The performance of the Zacks Rank portfolios shown above for annual and year-to-date periods are the linked monthly total returns (price changes + dividends) of equal weighted hypothetical portfolios, consisting of those stocks with the indicated Zacks Rank, assuming monthly rebalancing and zero transaction costs. These are not the returns of actual portfolios. The hypothetical portfolios were created at the beginning of each month from Jan 1988 forward based on the values of the Zacks Rank available to Zacks' clients before the beginning of each month. Starting in October 2006 and going forward, the portfolios are comprised of all stocks with the indicated Zacks Rank and do not exclude ADRs, which is more reflective of the list of stocks that customers will find on the Zacks web sites.
