United States Men's National Team to Play Pair of Upcoming Matches on Fox Soccer Channel
LOS ANGELES--Fox Soccer Channel today announced it will televise the next two matches featuring the United States Men's National Team.
On Saturday, November 17, the U.S. faces 2010 FIFA World Cup host South Africa in Johannesburg as part of the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup. Kick-off at Ellis Park Stadium is slated for 9:00 a.m. ET, live on Fox Soccer Channel. It marks the USA's first-ever match against South Africa and just the third time the Americans have played on African soil.
The United States then opens its 2008 schedule on Fox Soccer Channel by hosting Sweden - an 11-time FIFA World Cup participant - on Saturday, January 19 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Live, exclusive coverage begins at 8:00 p.m. ET with a half-hour pregame show. The USA will be seeking revenge for a 1-0 loss in Sweden suffered this August, which was also televised live by Fox Soccer Channel.
Max Bretos will handle play-by-play responsibilities for both telecasts, with color commentary from former U.S. Men's National Team star Christopher Sullivan.
The U.S. Men's National Team has been featured prominently on Fox Soccer Channel this year, with nine total match broadcasts, including all six games of its run to the CONCACAF Gold Cup title in June.
