Tekelec Deploys Enhanced Business Intelligence Solution

MORRISVILLE, N.C.--Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), a leading developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced enhancements to the Integrated Applications Solution (IAS) platformsupporting various business and network intelligence solutions. With IAS Release 2.0, the company is launching a next-generation architecture and adding applications: multi-protocol call trace, network traffic analysis and network diagnostics. IAS Release 2.0 has been deployed in operator networks.

Tekelec IAS provides the tools service providers need to capture network traffic data and convert it into useful business intelligence for troubleshooting and managing traffic, roamers and services as well as revenues. With its powerful and configurable filtering, IAS sorts through the data to create comprehensive dashboards and reports for all departments within the service provider. IAS includes a comprehensive array of performance management and revenue management capabilities that provide reliable real-time or historical information based on network traffic. IAS can be deployed with probes or without probes when integrated with Tekelec's industry-leading EAGLE(R) 5 Integrated Signaling System (ISS)providing operators with significant cost savings, more efficient operations and a reduced footprint.

End-to-End Call Tracing in Next-generation Networks (NGN)

With new analytical capabilities, operators can troubleshoot network and customer-related problems. They also are able to resolve interworking problems between interconnects and within customers' networks, supporting an array of protocol and network types, including voice over Internet protocol (VoIP). IAS 2.0 features historical and in-progress multi-protocol call trace (including session initiation protocol (SIP) and diameter protocols.

Real-time Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting Drill-down Capabilities

IAS Release 2.0 supports diagnostics for low-level link monitoring, statistics and alarms. The application provides information about health of the signaling system 7 (SS7) network by displaying link and node status/state. The latest product release enhances the inter-application linkage between the IAS alarm application and the diagnostic capabilities, enabling the customer to drill down into the details when troubleshooting.

New Architecture Provides Increased Scalability, Performance and Reliability

The enhancements provide greater modularity, increased redundancy, improved performance and greater reliability. The next-generation architecture hosts all IAS applications and features on a single platform, reducing operational complexity and system footprint. Operators can easily add a new application to the existing platform. Storage capacity also has been enhanced significantly, and the probe capacity has more than doubled.

Increased Security, Improved Management Capabilities and Enhanced Protocol Support

IAS Release 2.0 also features increased security measures with access control and user and data access rights management. Other upgrades are centralized management with centralized system configuration and alarm, mediation and acquisition management and Web-based access supporting more than 30 simultaneous users. Also, IAS 2.0 provides enhanced protocol support, including additional wireless application protocols (WAP), short message service (SMS) extensions and other wireless extensions.

"Tekelec IAS is deployed by operators around the world to monitor telecommunications networks across multiple technologies and protocols, including legacy, next-generation converged networks and IMS architectures," explained Ronald de Lange, executive vice president, Global Product Solutions, Tekelec. "With the new scalable and reliable IAS architecture and feature enhancements, operators are able to bring applications to market quickly and increase revenue streams."

In conjunction with Tekelec's industry-leading EAGLE(R) 5 ISS and TekCore Session Managera core IMS call session control function (CSCF) platformTekelec is now able to provide unified signaling and monitoring for TDM (time division multiplexing), 2G/3G, VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) and IMS networks. Operators benefit from being able to support and monitor all of their signaling protocols with as few network elements as possible.

About Tekelec Integrated Applications Solutions

Tekelec IAS supports wireline and wireless, VoIP and TDM architectures, delivering a rich source of business intelligence data that can be used to troubleshoot service delivery by determining and tracking the causes for failure as well as providing the information to resolve network issues and help reduce subscriber churn. IAS provides vital subscriber data and service usage information, including download types and frequency, messaging, roaming activity, calling patterns and other important business intelligence to operators in real time. IAS can be fully integrated with the Tekelec EAGLE 5 ISS or deployed as a standalone solution, which reduces operational expenses and allows operators to scale more quickly.
