Travelers Offers Comprehensive Insurance Solutions for Underground Utility Contractors
HARTFORD, Conn.--Travelers today announced that its Construction unit is broadening its appetite to include a wider range of underground utility contractors. Underground utility contractor customers can now benefit from Travelers' unmatched construction expertise. An underwriting team, knowledgeable in underground utility contractors' work, able to write a variety of lines of business, and experienced risk control consultants with solid technical background in the field, provide a valuable resource for clients in effectively managing their risks.
"Travelers understands an underground utility contractor's business, from trenching and excavation, to determining soil stability and managing traffic control at work sites, and we recognize that their risks are constantly evolving," said Rob Brewer, Vice President, Construction Underwriting. "Because we appreciate these risks and are committed to presenting unique solutions, Travelers is able to offer the underground utility contractor insurance that is in-synch with their needs."
As a single source of comprehensive insurance, Travelers now offers a unique primary general liability coverage, Damage to Property Endorsement - Limited Coverage for Certain Underground Property. Travelers also provides underground utility contractor customers with a number of special coverages, including an Electronic Data Liability Endorsement, which protects contractors for damages related to loss of data arising out of hitting a utility line. Also available are Railroad Protective coverage, Owners and Contractors Protective coverage and Pollution Liability coverage. Additionally, Travelers offers coverage to contractors that work on pipelines, including natural gas and petroleum transmission lines.
Underscoring its commitment to reducing risk for underground utility contractors, Travelers is a National Insurance Company Launch Partner of the Common Ground Alliance's national "Call Before You Dig" campaign. Travelers supports the new national initiative for individuals, whether contractor or homeowner, to call the number, 811, before starting any digging activity, from planting a tree to installing a pipeline. Calling 811 notifies the appropriate local utilities of the project, and crews are sent to the requested site to mark the approximate location of underground lines. This prevents life-threatening injury and damage that can result from coming into contact with an underground utility line.
In addition, Travelers offers all underground utility contractors the following value-added programs:
* Excavation, Trenching, and Work Zone Safety Academy
* Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Services
* Crisis Management Services
* Rapid Response Catastrophe Claim Services
