Stone & Youngberg Community Bank Group Launches Equity Trading Desk
SAN FRANCISCO--Stone & Youngberg, a leading financial services firm offering a comprehensive range of products and services, today announced that the firm's Community Bank Group has launched an equity trading desk, broadening service to its client base by expanding trade execution capabilities. The firm has recently hired two market makers to support the launch of the equity trading desk. Bill Howard will serve as head of trading in the equity trading group, and Kirk Howard will serve as equity trader for the group.
Stone & Youngberg launched the Community Bank Group in December 2006, after an acquisition from The Seidler Companies that retained the group's executive management team, including managing director Troy Norlander and senior vice president Michael Natzic. The move broadened the firm's client base while opening new investment opportunities for existing clients. As a leading authority on community banks in western states, Stone & Youngberg's Community Bank Group currently services more than 3,000 clients, trading in excess of $500 million dollars in community bank stocks annually.
The firm launched market making capabilities this month, representing more than 75 west coast community banks. Included in the launch are top financial institutions such as Bridge Capital Holdings (BBNK), California United Bank (CUNB), Chino Commercial Bancorp (CCBC), Commerce National Bank (CNBF), CommerceWest Bank (CWBK), Coronado First Bank (CDFB), CVB Financial Corp. (CVBF), Desert Commercial Bank (DCBC), Temecula Valley Bancorp (TMCV) and United Security Bancorp (UBFO). A complete list of companies can be found at http://www.syllc.com/services/cbg/market.asp.
"By expanding our market making capabilities, we'll leverage the firm's community bank expertise and deep knowledge of western markets to provide new and continued investment opportunities for our clients," said Michael Natzic, senior vice president of the Community Bank Group. "Over the next several months, the firm intends to roll out additional equity trade execution services for our retail and institutional clients."
As head of trading for Stone & Youngberg's Community Bank Group, Bill Howard is responsible for growing the firm's equity trading capabilities. With more than 40 years in the industry, Bill has worked for many of the top regional firms on the west coast. Most recently, he was a vice president at The Seidler Companies. Prior to this he was the head trader at Sutro & Company for 10 years. He holds a B.S. in Business from the University of Southern California.
Kirk Howard will be responsible for market making and trade fulfillment for the Community Bank Group. Kirk was most recently at Crowell Weedon & Co., where he served as a market maker. He has worked in equity trading for more than 10 years, previously as a market maker for The Seidler Companies and before that as an equity trader at Hagerty Stewart & Associates.
