Fylmz Festival Finalists to Meet with Newmarket Films

NASHVILLE -- At the Fylmz Festival's Awards Ceremony Saturday, Fylmz Founder Tony Vidmer announced that Newmarket Films Executive John Crye has extended an offer to meet, and to discuss the futures of, the Festival's finalist filmmakers at the Newmarket offices in Los Angeles. Newmarket Films has developed and distributed runaway independent hits like Donnie Darko, Whale Rider, Monster and The Passion of the Christ.

The Fylmz Festival wrapped Saturday evening, after collecting thousands of online votes on Fylmz.com and hundreds of votes at the live festival over the weekend. The award for Best Feature Film, and the opportunity for a $100,000 distribution deal, went to Jordan Albertson, the 24-year-old writer and director of The Standard. Other Fylmz Festival prize-winners included Zzyzx, Pope Dreams, Salt, CallBack and Park all of whose makers will be invited to speak with Newmarket's Crye.

"Our agreement with Newmarket is huge and absolutely unheard of," says Fylmz Founder Tony Vidmer. "To sit down one on one with a major distributor, and discuss your future as a filmmaker that's a filmmaker's dream come true!"
