Best Buy Adds Susan Wollan Fan To Management Team
MINNEAPOLIS -- Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY) today said that Susan Wollan Fan has joined the company as senior vice president, enterprise transformation. Wollan Fan is responsible for ensuring that Best Buy's business processes, capabilities and operating model support the company's continual evolution as a customer-centric organization. She reports to Brian J. Dunn, Best Buy's president and chief operating officer.
"Our company continues to evolve as we translate our employees' insights and ideas into experiences that delight our customers," said Dunn. "Our organization, and how it functions, must be structured in such a way that allows us to be solid on the fundamentals but nimble enough to pursue new opportunities aggressively. Sue's experience in driving large-scale change, as well as her deep knowledge of Best Buy, makes her an extraordinary asset as we seek to create a structure that best supports our dynamic customer-centric enterprise."
Wollan Fan joined Best Buy with 20 years of large-scale change experience at Accenture, the world's largest consulting firm. She joined Accenture in 1984 and was promoted in 1998 as the first woman partner in Accenture's Minneapolis office. During her tenure at Accenture, Wollan Fan spent seven years working closely with Best Buy executives to improve the company's growth and performance. In addition to her work with Best Buy, Wollan Fan has consulted with more than 20 major retailers and consumer brands, including Sears Canada, Safeway Stores, Pillsbury and ShopKo. Her early career was spent designing and implementing new operating and expansion strategies.
Wollan Fan has been active in several civic areas. She developed for Accenture a model for corporate citizenship and volunteerism, providing a formal channel to connect local community initiatives with the employees who have expertise in the consultancy's core business capabilities. She also spent several years involved in efforts to close the racial achievement gap in Minnesota schools.
Wollan Fan earned a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute of Public Policy. She also holds degrees in business, quantitative methods and computer science from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minn.
