W.Va. State Fire Marshals arrest Marion County couple on arson charges

 

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office has arrested a man and woman in connection with a fire set to a residence in December 2017.

 

WVSFMO investigators have charged Christopher Carlton Metheny, 35, and his ex-wife Brittany Marie Drake Metheny, 26, with first-degree arson, burning insured property and fraudulent claims again an insurance company.

 

Investigators believe the Methenys set a fire that severely damaged their home on May Street in Fairmont on Dec. 12, 2017. The two were arrested in Kingwood, Preston County, on Sept. 18.  Chris Metheny posted a $75,000 bond while Brittany Metheny was transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu on a $75,000 bond. 

 

The arrest was made by WVSFMO investigators R.C. Ayersman and R.Sovastion.
