Luanda, ANGOLA, October 22 - The Bill on Preventing and Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Weapons of Mass Destruction goes to the general discussion at the first extraordinary plenary session of the National Assembly scheduled for October 29.,

The information was released this Tuesday, in Luanda, by Parliament spokesman Raúl Lima, at the end of the conference of the leaders of parliamentary groups, which set the agenda of the extraordinary plenary.

The ruling MPLA party parliamentary group leader Américo Cuononoca considered the discussion of the Draft Anti-Money Laundering Prevention and Fighting Law timely, at a time when transparency and rigor in the economic and financial sector is of utmost importance to the country.

He said Angola should align on this assumption so that international banks that are liaising with nationals do have guarantees that the country has strong instruments to curb money laundering and terrorist financing.

"It is a very important Bill that must be approved as soon as possible, because when it comes to economics and finance the country cannot be late," he noted.

The same standing was expressed by the main UNITA  opposition party MP Navita Ngolo, for whom this diploma is also fundamental, because of the connection that the Angolan financial market must have with the international market.

She said it was necessary to restore the confidence of international banking institutions to national ones, "to get back to dealing with the very scarce dollars."

Similar thoughts were expressed by MP Alexandre Sebastião, from CASA-CE, Lucas Ngonda, from FNLA, and Benedito Daniel, from PRS.

In the agenda of the extraordinary plenary session of 29 October there is no draft law on the municipal power package, which holds 10 diplomas, four of which have already been unanimously approved in the last legislature.

According to MPLA parliamentary group leader Américo Cuononoca, the model for consensus adopted in approving the first four diplomas should be considered again for the six remaining diplomas.

"We are confident that later this year we will work towards the approval of the municipal legislative package to facilitate the competent bodies that will convene the municipal elections," he noted.

On the other hand, UNITA MP Navita Ngolo, considers this structuring and priority matter, “since the time given for the municipal elections is not far away.

We want consensual laws that interest the Angolan nation. ”

At the extraordinary plenary session, the deputies will also consider and vote on the bill authorizing the President of the Republic, as Head of the Executive Branch, to legislate on the Legal Regime of Participation Titles.

The draft resolution for the Ratification of Cooperation between the Governments of Angola and Rwanda in the field of Security and Public Order, as well as the Cooperation Protocol of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) in the area of defense.

The National Assembly will also move MPs and swear in two members of the Board of Directors of the Media Regulatory Authority (ERCA).
