This Year’s Festival Includes Films from 24 Countries and Across the U.S.

Greenwood Lake, NY, May 13, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HOBOKEN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (“HIFF”) - called by Fox and Time Warner "one of the 10 biggest film festivals in the world" - has announced that legendary wrestler/actor/TV host, Governor JESSE VENTURA, will personally accept the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award on Opening Night, May 17.  MARTIN KOVE -- star of “Cobra Kai” -- (one of the top 5-rated TV shows and the #1 streaming show across the globe) will also personally accept his Hall of Fame Award at Opening Night. HIFF is held on the beach in stunning GREENWOOD LAKE, NY May 17 - 23. 

 This year’s movies come from states across the U.S., plus 24 different countries. The 2019 HIFF Officially Selected Movies star numerous award-winning and fan favorite actors including Academy Award nominees Randy Quaid, Burt Young, Eric Roberts, Danny Aiello – and many more stars.  Other celebrities confirming their attendance include: Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin; Problem Child), Jason London (Dazed and Confused; The Man in the Moon), Joyce DeWitt (“Three’s Company”), Academy Award nominee Danny Aiello (Moonstruck), Academy Award nominee Burt Young (Rocky), Daniel Baldwin (“Cold Case”) Julie McCullough (“Growing Pains”), Scott Schwartz (A Christmas Story), Judie Aaronson (Weird Science), Jackie Martling (“The Howard Stern Show”), Caitlin Carmichael (“Dwight in Shining Armor”) and Gena Lee Nolin (“Baywatch”). Now that the Official Selections have been announced, more stars will be added to the lineup.

 The star-studded Opening Night Celebration, hosted by comedian Buddy Fitzpatrick, launches the Festival this Friday, May 17.  Sponsors and local businesses provide entertainment and refreshments to the crowd as stars and filmmakers walk the red carpet. The evening culminates with the worldwide premiere screening of A Karate Christmas Miracle. The film stars Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Pope of Greenwich Village), Martin Kove (“Cobra Kai”; The Karate Kid), Julie McCullough (“Growing Pains”), Mila Milosovic (Yellow Scare), and its child lead Mario Del Vecchio (The Brawler).

 After a week-long of screening some of the world’s most cutting-edge films, HIFF wraps on May 23 with its signature Gala Awards Ceremony where the 2019 HIFF Excellence in Acting Award will be personally accepted by famed actor Jason London (Dazed and Confused; The Man on the Moon). This red carpet, extravaganza event features an Oscars-style ceremony, hosted by superstar stand-up comedian Gilbert Gottfried. Opening Night and the Gala Awards Ceremony are held right on the beach at Thomas Morahan Waterfront Park in Greenwood Lake, NY.  Movie screenings are also held at this beach setting, as well as the gorgeous lakefront restaurant Cove Castle and the historic Elks Lodge.
