Opposition MPs defend greater support for municipalities
Caxito, ANGOLA, May 4 - Parliamentary Members with the opposition UNITA party defended Friday greater support for municipalities in order to ensure development, growth and improvement of the living conditions of the population.,
This was during a three-day visit to the municipalities of Ambriz, Dande and Dembos (northern Bengo province).
The MPs gathered information that will help them strengthen their party’s position in debate on the implementation of the local government system.
In a press conference, the MPs said that the visits served to learn of the reality of the municipalities and to better prepare them for discussion in the specialty in the National Assembly.
"We leave once again with the conviction that the process must be institutionalised in all the municipalities of the country. Much more needs to be done, because we find that there are municipalities where everything appears to have come to a standstill, "said the MP Albertina Navemba Ngolo.
She said gradualism should only be implemented in terms of competences and not geographically. This means that the process must cover all municipalities of the country.
