Gettysburg, Pa, April 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OPEN MINDS has released an updated suite of Medicaid market intelligence resources on the state of Mississippi. The resources include analysis of the Mississippi’s Medicaid system, Medicaid managed care vendor contracts, and additional state-specific information.

Mississippi’s Medicaid managed care program is called Mississippi Coordinated Care Network (MississippiCAN). Three health plans, called Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs), deliver physical health and behavioral health benefits to most populations, including families and children, as well as aged and disabled adults. Health plans are available statewide, and individuals have a choice of plan. Individuals who do not choose a plan are auto-assigned.

In 2017, new managed care contracts went into effect, but did not begin enrolling individuals. The state held a special enrollment period in July and August of 2018. The health plans began operating on October 1, 2018. Contracts for the three health plans are available for download:

• Magnolia Health Plan
• Molina Healthcare
• UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Mississippi

The health contracts include a provision that allows Mississippi to add a value-based purchasing program in the future.
