Jurist Francisca Van-Dúnem addresses law, justice challenges

Luanda, ANGOLA, April 18 - The jurist Francisca Van-Dúnem Wednesday in Luanda defended new solutions to the new technologies, globalisation, mobility and transnational legal relations.,

 

These challenges calls for new issues for the Law and Justice, said the jurist while addressing a lecture at the Law Faculty of Agostinho Neto University in Luanda.

 

Also minister of Justice of Portugal on visit in Angola, Francisca Van-Dúnem said that the fundamental issues constantly undergo new approaches, especially in contexts of uncertainty and crisis.

 

She said that a strong justice should, firstly, ensure the guarantee of fundamental rights and put citizens at the center of any reform and action.

Francisca Van-Dúnem, who arrived in Luanda last Tuesday, visited the Lobito District Court in Benguela.

 

This is the first visit the Portuguese official pays to Angola after the two countries managed to tackle the tension in their relations due to the  attempt to try the ex-Angolan Vice President, Manuel Vicente, in that European country.

 

During her stay, Francisca Van-Dúnem was received by Angolan President, João Lourenço.

 

She also held separate meetings with Angolan Justice and Human Rights Francisco Queirós and Interior Minister Angelo da Veiga Tavares.

The Portuguese official also paid courtesy visits to organs of the Angolan judiciary - Supreme, Constitutional and Audit  Courts, as well as the Attorney General's Office.
