Mississauga ON,, April 16, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC), today announced that its National Board of Directors has appointed Angela Mondou as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. 

“The ITAC National Board of Directors is extremely impressed with Angela’s knowledge and ideas about the advancement of Canada’s ICT industry in Canada, as well as the increasing role ITAC plays in fostering a growing, innovative tech sector in Canada,” said national ITAC Board Chair Kevin Peesker, and president of Microsoft Canada. “She is a tech visionary with a proven track record of execution and we are pleased to have Angela help drive the Association forward, ensuring we remain the trusted, innovative leader that our members rely on to advocate for a more robust and innovative digital economy.”

Ms. Mondou is an accomplished, bilingual leader, with over 25+ years of global and Canadian experience driving transformational programs in the tech sector.  She has previously held CEO positions in both the health tech sector, and the not-for-profit sector.

As program creator of the public-private sector leadership forums “Strategic Knowledge Exchange” aimed at driving change on a national scale, Angela’s experience in developing strategic partnerships across national organizations and around the world, will support driving ITAC’s vision to influence Canada’s position as a global tech leader into the future

Angela’s unique career path includes 10 years as a military officer and 18 years as a senior level leader in the tech and defence sectors, including senior leadership roles at Nortel Networs and Blackberry. Ms. Mondou was President of Canada Company, a federally regulated charity, bridging military personnel and the Canadian business community.  Author of the leadership best-seller ‘Hit the Ground Leading!’, and award-winning founder of her own strategic leadership company, Angela has delivered programs and keynotes to companies and teams around the world!  She has held positions as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Ivey School of Business, EVP of Leadership with the International Women’s Forum and as Honorary Colonel of the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace, Technology and Engineering.

Angela is also a recipient of the United Nations Peacekeeping medal. In 2005, Ms. Mondou represented Canada's peacekeepers in the Year of the Veteran campaign; was featured on a special circulation quarter released by the Royal Canadian Mint; and was part of a national television commercial campaign.

Ms. Mondou succeeds Denise Shortt, who has served as Interim CEO since November 1, 2018. Ms. Shortt, a long-term employee of ITAC will remain as Vice President, Industry Development, Diversity and Inclusion, a role she has held since 2011.
