Huambo governor encourages youth to engage in peace promotion
Speaking at a conference on peace, organised by the Provincial Youth Council, Joana Lina explained that her appeal is aimed at the preservation of the country’s peace, which has been achieved with a lot of sacrifice, following 27 years of armed civil conflict.
To this end, said the governor, young people must engage in actions that favour national reconciliation, boosting dialogue, respect for differences, tolerance and patriotism.
Joana Lina explained that the culture of peace needs to be taught, lived and exercised every day.
The provincial governor also recommended to young people to rigorously respect and promote human and citizenship rights, which are two crucial factors for the intended culture of peace.
The conference on the culture of peace was part of the commemorations of the National Youth Day, to be marked on Sunday.
