Atomic Data’s Wired and Wireless Networks Promise a Frictionless Fan Experience at Allianz Field

Minnesota United’s New Home Features IT Infrastructure Created and Supported by Atomic Data

MINNEAPOLIS, April 12, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Atomic Data®, a Minneapolis-based IT as a Service company, along with partner Minnesota United is celebrating the home opener at Allianz Field and the Allianz Field network infrastructure powered by Atomic Data. Atomic Data has supported MNUFC since 2014 and their relationship has flourished as both organizations have grown. MNUFC’s first home game at Allianz Field will be the culmination of years of work between Atomic Data and Minnesota United.

Atomic Data is the official IT, Cloud, and WiFi partner of Minnesota United Football Club.

Atomic Data - Major League Networks
Atomic Data believes in free Wi-Fi

Once the jersey sponsor, Atomic Data became the Official Wi-Fi, Cloud and IT partner of MNUFC in 2017 when the team moved to Major League Soccer. A brand new major league stadium needs major league infrastructure and support. Atomic Data has done just that—designing, building, managing, monitoring, and supporting the Local Area Network (LAN), the IP telephone system, and the fan-facing Wi-Fi.

The network infrastructure will cover all game day and off-day business operations. Every time the Video Assistant Referee reviews game footage, a card is swiped at one of the dozens of vendors, or a fan connects to the Wi-fi to post on social media, they’ll be depending on the network Atomic Data built.

Beyond the game day operations that spectators will see, Atomic Data will support the behind the scenes operations that usually aren’t thought about by fans until they’re not working. The network allows professional photographers to upload high resolution images from the sidelines, it allows the scoreboards and video screens to broadcast replays and game information to fans, and allows the beautiful lighting throughout the exterior skin of the stadium to be controlled remotely.

Throughout Allianz Field there are 14 intermediate distribution frame (IDF) closets. These serve as networking substations through which cabling is run from the main distribution frame to support endpoints like the 280 point of sale systems throughout the stadium and provide a granular level of detail in support and monitoring.  Atomic Data Engineers and Technicians will provide monitoring and support from Atomic Data’s Minneapolis headquarters and the on-site data center at Allianz Field—which are connected by redundant 10Gbps circuits.

The Wi-Fi network features lightning-fast speeds regardless of where you are in Allianz Field. This coverage is due to the 470 enterprise-grade Cisco Wi-Fi access points throughout the stadium. Logging into the network requires as little as an email address. Though the process is simple, Atomic Data will have a strong presence at the first few home games of the season. Volunteers will be on hand to assist anyone with issues getting logged into the network. As this is the first season MNUFC has fully implemented electronic ticketing, having in-person IT support will help all fans get accustomed to the new processes.

“We’re a service company,” Atomic Data CEO, Jim Wolford says. ”We will be there for the fans, the team, the vendors, everybody that logs into our network. Our relationship with MNUFC is strong and reliable, with room to grow. Just like the network infrastructure at Allianz Field.”

Atomic Data’s official partnership will provide all fans, team staff, and vendors at Allianz Field with secure, available, high-speed Internet access. Everyone will stay connected to their friends, social media followers, and the MNUFC app for their digital tickets. Atomic Data is excited for MNUFC’s success on the field and around the stadium.
