Head of State encourages fight against crime

Luanda, ANGOLA, March 11 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Monday encouraged the fight against crime by the National Police (PN) in the country and in Luanda, in particular. ,

 

The Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) Commander-in-Chief, João Lourenço, was speaking at the swearing in ceremony of the Second commander general of the National Police, António Maria Sita.

President João Lourenço stressed the positive work of the seniors officers and police officers  of the corporation in fighting  crimes in the city of Luanda, where it is more intense.

 

The Angolan Head of State acknowledged that in recent months the corporation has been outstanding, despite the lack of human and material resources.

 

It is vital, he said, to continue with its mission, hoping that the means will soon be more efficient. The "Government is working to provide the police with what it deserves," he said.

 

Police and community interaction

 

Speaking to the press, after the inauguration, the second PN commander, António Maria Sita, called for greater interaction between the corporation's staff and the community.

 

"We will consolidate the principle of proximity policing to reduce crime," he said.

 

According to António Sita, the General Command of the National Police has a crime reduction strategy throughout the country, in particular for Luanda, which holds 30 percent of crimes nationwide due to its population density.

 

António Maria Sita  acted as police commander in provinces of  Benguela, Huíla, Cabinda and Luanda.
