Angola attends 125th regular session of Human Rights Committee

ANGOLA, March 7 - Luanda, 7 March (ANGOP) - Angola has participated since Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland, at the 125th regular session of the Human Rights Committee, where it will defend the II periodic report on the implementation of the International Covention on Human Rights Civil and Political.,

According to a source from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the meeting will also serve to present the current human rights situation in Angola and their challenges and strengthen the human rights system.

 

The Angolan delegation, led by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Francisco Queiroz, will speak about the approval of the new Criminal Code, advances in access to justice and citizenship, reinforcement of dialogue with civil society, the fight against corruption and human beings trafficking.

 

The report, which will be defended at the meeting by the Angolan Government, was prepared by the Interministerial Commission for the Elaboration of National Reports on Human Rights (CIERNDH) and submitted to the Human Rights Committee in October 2017.
