The pose of this specimen is also a graphical example of how the skeleton and skeletal muscles rely on one another for support and movement." -Imagine Exhibition Image Courtesy Of: Imagine Exhibition

This powerful, blockbuster exhibition is presented by media sponsor Xfinity and explores life by displaying perfectly preserved human body specimens and anatomical specimens. More than a simple display of human specimens, Real Bodies: The Exhibition connects audiences to a deeper sense of what it means to be alive. Founded on anatomical, cultural, and emotional narratives, the exhibition transforms the way we view the mysterious organism we all share ─ the human body. The dramatic and artful presentation reminds us of all the complexity and scientific wonder within us that we often take for granted. Real Bodies: The Exhibition digs deeper into the beauty of the body, mind, and soul than any other exhibition of its kind, and invites you to explore the entire human experience from the first breath to the last.

“The Connecticut Science Center is pleased to bring this world-class exhibition to Hartford,” said Matt Fleury, Connecticut Science Center’s President and CEO. “The unique presentation of Real Bodies gives visitors a chance to see the amazing and complex systems that work within the human body and inspires a greater understanding and appreciation of how magnificent and complicated our own bodies are. From the unimaginably intricate engineering of joints to the unforgiving effects of unhealthy lifestyles, Real Bodies is a truly eye-opening and educational experience."

Real Bodies: The Exhibition consists of dramatic and compelling galleries that offer unique perspectives on human anatomy and its importance to world cultures as well as the emotional expression embedded in each of our physiological functions. The exhibition pushes boundaries while seamlessly blending art, science, and emotion as a museum of the self. Exploring these systems within the body, Real Bodies: The Exhibition reveals deep synergy between breathing, hunger, the rhythm of the heart, love, motion, thought, and medicine that makes each person unique.

“Comcast is a proud partner of the Connecticut Science Center and we’re excited to be the media sponsor of the Real Bodies exhibition,” said Mike Parker, Regional Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Western New England Region, which is headquartered in Connecticut.  “Comcast is committed to supporting education and STEM and the Real Bodies exhibition provides an opportunity for us to bring attention to this educational experience that blends art with science.”

Real Bodies: The Exhibition takes visitors on a journey asking them to explore who they are, where they come from and what they choose to do with the life and body they have been given. The exhibition presents a stunning display of 16 real, perfectly preserved whole-body specimens and 129 individual organ specimens. The Connecticut Science Center is the first stop on this brand new Real Bodies traveling exhibition, based on the permanent exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“While the exhibition moves through the human body using a system approach, the exhibition also looks far beyond the physical aspects of these systems,” said President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions Tom Zaller. “It explores the symbolic and cultural significance that these systems have had from the beginning of time, human evolution through time and questions why we do what we do and how we do it. Whether or not a visitor is spiritual, they’ll emerge from Real Bodies: The Exhibition with a sense of greater connection- a connection to the whole of humanity.”

Media passes are available upon request by contacting Director of Marketing and Public Relation at the Connecticut Science Center, Tracy Shirer.

Real Bodies: The Exhibition is open daily to the public Tuesday-Sunday 10AM-5PM for a limited engagement March 1- June 30, 2019. Admission to the exhibition is included with General Admission or a Science Center Membership. Tickets are available for purchase at the Connecticut Science Center and at CTScienceCenter.org.
