Portuguese president set to visit Angola

Luanda, ANGOLA, March 4 - Portuguese head of state Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa starts an official visit to Angola this week, with highlight to meet his local counterpart, João Lourenço. ,

In addition to Luanda, Marcelo de Sousa will visit some Angolan provinces, with stress to Benguela (south coast) and Huíla (southwest), respectively, and return to Luanda on Friday.

The  meeting between the two heads of state, scheduled for  Wednesday (6 March), will be followed by a joint press conference.

The Portuguese President is also expected to address a solemn session at the National Assembly on the same day before meeting with students at Agostinho Neto University.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa winds up his visit to Angola on Saturday (March 9), at a time he is completing three year in office.

The Angolan president João Lourenço visited Portugal in November, during which, he expressed his availability to welcome Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in Angola from 6 to 8 March this year.

Official data put at 348.7 million euros the Portuguese exports in the first quarter of 2018. There was a decrease compared to the same period of 2017, with 449.1 million euros.

Whereas, the Portuguese imports from Angola almost reached 100 percent (99.93 percent) between January and March this year.

Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase from 62.5 million euros in 2017 to 124.9 million euros in 2018.
