Angola takes over SADC defence inspection chair

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 26 - Angola took over Tuesday the presidency of the Organ of Inspection of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), replacing Namibia. ,

This was on the first day of the 13th  General Meeting of the SADC Organ held in the Angolan capital, Luanda.

The general inspector of Defence of Angola, Marques Correia Banza, said the country will work on introduction of great dynamic and improve the methods of inspection in the field of defence in the SADC region.

He said that Angola hopes, in its one-year term, to standardise the methods of Military inspection in the sub-region of the southern African.

Addressing an opening ceremony of the two-day event, the State Secretary for Defence, Gaspar Santos Rufino, praised the performance of the  inspectors in consolidating the regio’s Organ of Defence and Security, in the last 16 years of the existence of the body.

Gaspar Santos Rufino defended the principle of integration in parity with other state members for the exercise of strict inspection in defence field.

SADC comprises 16 State members. They are Angola, Botswana, DR Congo, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
