Benguela, ANGOLA, February 6 - The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in coastal Benguela province arrested last Tuesday afternoon Feb.5 , the former municipal administrator of Baia-Farta, Maria João, accused of crime of embezzlement, Angop learned on Wednesday, from a source linked to the process.,

According to the source, the former administrator is still accused of crimes of corruption and association of wrongdoers.

 

SIC  also said that the arrest is associated with the non-appearance of the former official  in some hearings at the Attorney General's Office, after being notified.

 

SIC added that the former administrator appeared on Tuesday in the building of the SIC, where the Attorney General's Office also operates, to make known her travel to the municipality of Bocoio, during a work visit, and was arrested at the same time.

 

Angop learned that the deputy administrator of Bahia-Farta, Leonardo Jonatão, was also detained on Wednesday morning, in the same case.

 

Leonardo Jonatao was the secretary general of the municipal administration at the consulate of Maria João.
