Angolan President wants more efficient diplomacy

ANGOLA, January 25 - The Head of State made such statement while speaking at the swearing-in  ceremony of the new ambassador to Sweden, Apolinário Jorge Correia and ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and Economic Community for Africa, Francisco José da Cruz.

On the occasion, the president underscored that in the current time that the country is seeking to re-launch itself at international level, the diplomacy sector must contribute to the achievement of such goal.

In line with the goal of projecting Angola abroad, the president had previously instructed the country’s diplomats to make a permanent follow up of the international political situation and seek solutions for the challenges.

The newly appointed itinerant ambassadors Maria Elisabeth Simbrão de Carvalho, Leogivildo da Costa e Silva and André Panzo also took office on Thursday as well as the new assistant director-general of the External Intelligence Service (SIE), Mário António da Costa Dias.

Angola is gearing up to have major presence in the African Union, an  organization to which the country is the sixth major contributor.
