Opposition coalition CASA-CE's secretary quits

Benguela, ANGOLA, January 24 - The provincial secretary for the central Benguela Province of the opposition coalition CASA-CE, Francisco Vilhena, quitted the coalition on Wednesday over alleged "failure" on its political project.,

Speaking in a press conference, the then representative of Angola’s third political force in Benguela pledged to dedicate himself, for now, to the law profession and business activities.

According to the politician, by the moment of its constitution, in 2012, the coalition gathered all conditions to be a good tool to lead Angolans and the country.

However, added the politician, today it has not the same conditions, since it started being dominated by private interests of the coalition’s political parties to the detriment of the national political panorama.

The CASA-CE coalition, being led by Abel Chivukuvuku, was the third political force to garner most votes in the 2017 general elections, which earned them 16 seats in the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament).

Francisco Vilhena also affirmed that he never thought to be part of a group of people who suddenly affirms that patriotism does not feed empty belly.

To the politician, the political coalition is not being led by serious people, urging fellow independent members of the coalition to think over their survival inside the organization.

Francisco Vilhena led the electoral campaign of the coalition in 2017 in Benguela, where it did not achieve any of the five parliamentary seats for the province.
