SAN FRANCISCO , Jan. 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For its fifth consecutive year, the San Francisco Chronicle, Northern California’s largest newspaper, is pleased to announce the nominating committee of its VisionSF program. The committee is made up of seven exemplary Bay Area leaders, including three Bay Area mayors. The committee is responsible for identifying local changemakers and potential nominees for the Visionary of the Year Award.  

VisionSF recognizes leaders in the Bay Area who strive to make the world a better place by employing new, innovative business models and practices.

• Sam Liccardo, Mayor of San Jose
• Daniel Lurie, CEO and founder of Tipping Point Community
• Libby Schaaf, Mayor of Oakland
• Charlotte M. Shultz, Chief of Protocol for the City & County of San Francisco
• George P. Shultz, former U.S. Secretary of State

San Francisco Chronicle Publisher Bill Nagel, Editor in Chief Audrey Cooper and Editorial Page Editor John Diaz will select the winner.

From January 2019 to April 2019, the San Francisco Chronicle, in print and online (SFChronicle.com/VisionSF) will recognize the six finalists for the award. The 2019 Visionary of the Year will be announced on March 27, 2019 at a private award dinner. There will be a dedicated VisionSF special section, featuring the winner, nominees and award dinner, both in print and online April 7, 2019.

Past Visionary winners include Khan Academy founder, Salman Khan; Chan-Zuckerberg co-founder Priscilla Chan; Watsi co-founder and CEO, Chase Adam; and Education Superhighway CEO and founder, Evan Marwell.
