Rehabilitation of Luanda's Américo Boavida hospital kicks off in 2019

The information was disclosed on Saturday by the Health minister, Sílvia Lutukuta, at the end of the visit of the president of the republic to the above said facility.
The hospital founded in 1958 with capacity to accommodate 800 patients, is a university hospital, whose services are secured by 300 national workers and 173 doctors among nationals and foreigners (most of them Cubans).
Américo Boavida hospital provides assistance to almost all specialties, except otolaryngology and ophthalmology.
According to the minister, the hospital needs deep rehabilitation, mainly the structural part of the premises due to micro drainage problems, which have impaired the foundation of the building.
Sílvia Lutukuta expressed satisfaction with visit of the president to the hospital at the end of the year, which is according to her, a clear demonstration that he is concerned with social sector.
Alike other hospital units in the country, Américo Boavida also counts on financial aid to purchase equipments.
Speaking to Angop, the director of the Engineering Laboratory of Angola, Rui Marques, said there will be no need to completely evacuate the building.
