Luanda, ANGOLA, December 27 - The Attorney General's Office (PGR) has in the pipelines the creation early 2019 of an Office to deal with issues related to the recovery of assets held at home and abroad. ,

 

This was announced Thursday by its incumbent Hélder Pitta Góis, when speaking to the press after the end-of-year greetings ceremony organised by the institution.

Hélder Pitta Góis admitted that the Office could be set up in January or February, adding that the intention is to tackle the current challenges in ​​money repatriation and anti-money laundering of capital.

He added that from March onwards, new magistrates could be recruited, admitting to resort to the international cooperation to set up that Office.

At the ceremony, the National Director for Organisation, Planning and Statistics of the PGR and Deputy Attorney General Gilberto Mizalaque Vunge presented the 2019-2023 development plan.

 

The plan aims to gain recognition and credibility of the society for its commitment to the promotion of justice, defence of legality, full exercise of citizenship and fight against crime and corruption, in particular.

It also aims to create and strengthen action in the fight against corruption, terrorism, money laundering, asset recovery, protection of victims, witnesses and plaintiffs and strengthen international legal cooperation in criminal matters.

The official pointed to the actions aimed at combating cyber crime and digital, domestic violence, children's rights, youth and workers, as well as the adoption of reforms and adaptation of legislation on the PGR activity.

On human resources, Gilberto Mizalaque said that plan foresees to achieve 1.217 prosecutors and increase the number of employees from 1,545 to 4,500 by the end of the five-year period.
