Forty per cent of Canadians intimidated by gyms

Murrayville House purpose-designed fitness centre fills the gap in Langley

LANGLEY, British Columbia, Dec. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Joining a gym may be a popular New Year’s resolution, but according to at least one study, it’s a futile attempt for many. That’s because a 2016 online poll by market research firm, Ispos, found 40 per cent of Canadians don’t like working out in public. And it seems in British Columbia, it’s worse, with BCers the most likely to feel intimidated than any other province. That may be the reason many new condo developers are filling in the gap by including equipped fitness centres into their amenities package.

Murrayville House in Langley is just one development where fitness and well-being have been designed into the project.

A fitness centre and specific calming outdoor spaces have been incorporated to eliminate the fear associated with working out in public. Michael Sikich, president of The Agency, says the Murrayville House gym will be exclusive to residents. “It will include elliptical machines, stationary bikes, a weight room, and space for stretching and yoga around the clock.” Added health features will include a central courtyard with a calming water fountain, tranquil seating areas, and private walkways to inspire a sense of connection to nature.

“With a gym right at their doorstep, Murrayville House residents will be able to conveniently workout without having to pay membership fees at other fitness centres throughout Langley,” explains Sikich.
