Luanda, ANGOLA, December 25 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, will travel to Brazzaville on Wednesday to participate in a summit to analyze the political situation in the Great Lakes Region, according to a note from the Civil House of the presidency.,

According to the statement, which arrived in Angop on Tuesday, the Summit is an initiative of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who has been leading the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region since the end of last year.

For this meeting, one of the highlights will be the preparation of the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The DRC is going to general elections on the 30th of this month, which was scheduled for 23 December.

After a few days of tension, the Congolese capital Kinshasa woke up calm last Saturday, the second day of postponement of the elections.

International election observers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) reiterated in Kinshasa their commitment to remain in solidarity with the Congolese people throughout the electoral process until the elections are held.
