President pledges phased reduction of state machinery

Speaking to the press on Friday in Luanda, João Lourenço said the reduction started within Executive, which dropped from the previous 35 cabinet ministers to less than 30.

The President said there are other measures in pipeline to minimise the costs, but he ruled out the launch of layoff process for staff employees.

"Nothing can be done abruptly, or we risk to solve one problem and raise two others," the President of the Republic told the press.

In his interview, João Lourenço addressed various issues related to the country's life and the Executive policies, under his first year term.

This is the second collective interview the President João Lourenço granted since he took office on September 26, 2017, with first held on January 8 this year.
