Waku Kungo, ANGOLA, December 10 - The ruling MPLA party's deputy president Luísa Damião Saturday described the creation of her political organisation on December 10, 1956 as a decisive and quality step for the history of Angolan nationalism. ,

 

The politician highlighted the importance of the date at the central event to mark the 62nd anniversary of MPLA held in Waku Kungo, coastal Cuanza Sul province.

 

Luís Damião said that the principles and values ​​of the party result from its manifesto of December 10, 1956.

 

Addressing the militants and sympathizers, the official noted that the founding of the MPLA was an act of bravery, courage, determination and high patriotism in the struggle against Portuguese colonialism.

 

According to the leader, the Manifesto of the MPLA clearly marked the determination in the fight for the overthrow of the Portuguese colonial authorities, which led to the Independence of Angola.

 

The deputy leader of MPLA also highlighted the roles of the party’s ex presidents - Agostinho Neto and José Eduardo dos Santos - in the leadership of the organisation.

 

According to her, the general elections of August 23, 2017 (at the level of State) and the VI Extraordinary Congress of September 8, 2018 (at party level), marked the transition to João Lourenço leadership.

 

The official described the leadership as crucial for the revival of grassroots organizations.

 

The politician said her party intends to include in its daily agenda the issues of the communities in which they are integrated , mainly in the supervising actions of governance activity.

 

Luísa Damião said that the party is also tasked with supporting the Executive in the construction of a prosperous, democratic and inclusive Angola, where the most important is the solution to the people's problems.
