Ontario Environment Minister’s plan for transportation welcomed by propane industry
Ottawa, Nov. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Canadian Propane Association (CPA) welcomes the release of the Ontario government’s plan for the environment. Preserving and Protecting Our Environment For Future Generations: A Made-In-Ontario Environment Plan was announced by Ontario’s Environment Minister Rod Philips earlier today.

“The minister’s plan provides important conditions that will foster investment by the propane industry, resulting in the expansion of low-emission propane in Ontario, including auto propane,” said Dan Kelly, Board Chair of the Canadian Propane Association. “The government’s commitment to move forward with an accelerated capital cost allowance is an important element in that regard.”
The propane industry in Ontario has long believed that unnecessary provincial regulations have stood in the way of the expansion of low-emission auto propane.
“We applaud the government’s commitment to establish clear rules and to remove needless red tape. These are important steps that will lead to more low-emission propane vehicles on Ontario roads,” said CPA President and CEO Nathalie St-Pierre. “This will maximize opportunities to expand the use of auto propane, thereby significantly reducing greenhouse gases and harmful toxins in the transportation sector.”
The CPA looks forward to continuing discussions with the Ontario government to highlight the propane advantage in additional sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial and agriculture.
