João Lourenço honoured with Dom Henrique Order

Lisbon, ANGOLA, November 22 - Angolan President João Lourenço was awarded Thursday at Palácio de Belém in Lisbon Portugal with the Great Necklace of the Dom Henrique Order by the Portuguese Head of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.,

The tribute, behind closed doors, took place during a meeting between the two statesmen, moments after João Lourenço began his official visit, in Praça do Império, in Belém, in Portugal.

For Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the award to João Lourenço represents the homage to all the Angolan people.

The Portuguese president said he appreciated the way João Lourenço is managing the country with "a desire for change, generation renewal, and revision of methods, financial equilibrium and economic diversification.

Before the meeting, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and João Lourenço reviewed the troops in a parade at Praça do Império. During his presence, 22 cannon were fired.

Then, the President of Angola deposited a wreath on the Tomb of the poet and soldier Luís de Camões.

This afternoon, João Lourenço addressed the Assembly of the Republic.
