Commander-in-Chief promotes military to general rank

Luanda, ANGOLA, November 19 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, as Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), promoted Monday to the military rank of general the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of FAA for Patriotic Education, João António Santana, for inherent functions.,

At the same ceremony, João Lourenço swore in two new secretaries of state and three FAA generals, appointed on November 13, including João António Santana.

Speaking to the participants, the Angolan President stated that those in charge had demonstrated self-denial and competence in previous posts, and that they had gained confidence for new functions.

In a joint ceremony at the Presidential Palace, Pacheco Francisco was sworn in as Secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, and Manuel Marques de Almeida Pimentel, Secretary of State for Spatial Planning.

As FAA Commander-in-Chief, João Lourenço also inaugurated General Emilio Miguel de Carvalho Sobrinho, as deputy chief of the General Staff for Social Affairs, as well as the commander of the National Air Force, General Altino Carlos José dos Santos.
