Corizon Health Launches Dedicated Military Recruiting Team

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Nov. 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In recognition of Veteran’s Day, Corizon Health today announced creation of a recruiting team dedicated to bringing US military veterans into its healthcare ranks.

“Our philosophy is that if we always do the right thing for our patients and our partners, our business will take care of itself,” Corizon Health CEO Steve Rector said. “Who better to deliver this promise than veterans – women and men who have selflessly served our nation, often putting country before their own well-being?”

Three percent of the correctional healthcare company’s workforce consists of military vets and Rector said they have been particularly successful working with the corrections command structure and the regimented nature of a controlled environment.

Furthermore, he said, eight percent of the US incarcerated population are military veterans.

“We’ve seen that patients who are veterans sometimes relate better to healthcare providers who are fellow veterans,” Rector said.

The Military Recruiting Team is composed of two military veterans: Ray Swatzell, LT USN Retired and USMC veteran with 22 years of active service and Carol Byerley, CMsgt, who retired from the US Air Force after 28 years of service and heads up military recruiting efforts.

“I am so excited to be a part of an organization that is committed to achieving the military-friendly designation,” Byerley said, adding that a number of programs and policies designed to support veterans transitioning from active duty into the private sector are currently being implemented.
