Raising of National Flag Memorial in Luanda on Independence Day

Luanda, ANGOLA, November 12 - The hoisting of the flag of the Republic of Angola and the deposition of a wreath at the bust of the first president of the country, António Agostinho Neto, in the Independence Square, marked Sunday in Luanda, the celebration of the 43rd anniversary of independence national.,

Angolan Minister of the Interior Angelo de Barros Veigas Tavares presided over the formal ceremony of the raising of the Monument Flag at the Museum of Military History (former São Miguel Fort), which was attended by the governor of the province of Luanda, Júlio Bessa, auxiliaries of the Head of the Executive and representatives of political parties and civil society.

On the occasion, the minister said that during these years the priority was to maintain the territorial integrity, unity and peace achieved, to safeguard all the efforts of those who fought for the national independence.

The ruling MPLA party's Vice President, Luísa Damião, considered the date of prime importance for all Angolans, due to the fact that it placed the name of Angola in the concert of nations, as a subject of public international law.

The official called on the Angolans to continue working in order to respond to the aspirations to place Angola on the path to development and prosperity.
