President counts on Zambia for progress of two countries
João Lourenço on Wednesday sent a message congratulating President Edgar Lungu and the Zambian people on the 54th anniversary of the country's independence, marked Wednesday October 24.
Joao Lourenço recalled the significance that Zambia's independence represented for the liberation struggle of Angola and Southern Africa.
To him, Zambia is now a stable democracy with strong economic and social development, contributing to the political stability of southern Africa and the African continent.
Angola and Zambia are two member countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and cooperate in the political, diplomatic, commercial and cultural affairs.
On May 2, the two countries signed visa suppression agreements on ordinary and diplomatic passports, as well as on cooperation in Agriculture, Mutual Assistance, and Public Security and Order.
The agreements were signed in the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to Zambia, held last May.
