Luanda, ANGOLA, October 3 - The Deputy-General Attorney, Mota Liz, said on Tuesday in Luanda, that people driving while impaired by alcohol must be fined not taken to trials. ,
The magistrate, who was speaking on the sidelines of a methodological meeting, which brought together staff of the General Attorney Office (PGR), managers of media outlets and journalists, stated that the Constitutional court has revoked the decree 231/79, which imposed imprisonment for drunk drivers.
Therefore, said the Attorney, under the road code, drink driving is punished with fines, since the aforementioned decree does not comply with this code, it is tacitly revoked.
However, Mota Liz defended the speed up of the approval of the draft Penal Code by the National Assembly to settle the issue.
