On Sunday, September 23, The New American Road Trip made a stop at GM’s Orion Assembly Plant in Lake Orion, Michigan. The road trip is traveling from San Francisco to New York City, highlighting advances in sustainable manufacturing across the country. The trip is being carried out in a Bolt EV, which was manufactured at the Lake Orion plant.

UAW workers, as well as representatives from GM, were on hand to discuss how the vehicles are made, and what it means to have their hard work featured so prominently in a nation-wide campaign. “This is an awesome experience, to see our hard work go into a vehicle and to have you go cross country with it. Event participants had a chance to learn more about emerging clean energy technologies, check out the Bolt EV, and sign a pledge to support environmentally friendly policies.
