Regulation of lawyers' immunity defended
Huambo, ANGOLA, September 19 - The compliance and protection of the lawyers' immunity, as outlined in article 194 of the Constitution of the Republic, on the part of institutions which operate in justice administration, demand specific regulation.,
This was defended on Tuesday, in the central Huambo Province, by the counsellor judge of the constitutional court, Raúl Araújo, while addressing the theme “The immunity of the lawyers during the performance of their duties” in a lecturer organised by the local Centre of Studies and Training of Lawyers.
The Angolan Bar Association (OAA) is, thus, called to elaborate a draft-law relating to this issue and submit it to the National Assembly for approval, said the judge.
“While the immunities are enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, it is essential that they be listed under a specific law to be regulated in a special way, in order to guarantee the effectiveness in its compliance and protection by other players who operate with lawyers in the administration of justice, "explained the judicial magistrate.
