MPLA party to undergo necessary reforms - João Lourenço
João Lourenço, who is taking over from José Eduardo dos Santos at the party's leadership, was speaking to the Angolan Public Television (TPA) at Luanda's Belas Conference Center, the venue of the 6th Extraordinary Congress held on Saturday.
Also Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço said that he gets from José Eduardo dos Santos, who step down as President of Angola on September 26, 2017, a peaceful and united country, described as key factors for the next steps.
He pledged to continue with the work performed by the other party’s leaders, at different stages.
According to João Lourenço, the MPLA is going through different characteristics’ phase featured by different challenges.
He expressed his confidence in the votes of the MPLA militants during the Congress.
The one-day event gathered 2,591 delegates from the country's 18 provinces.
