Kenya expresses interest in cooperating with Angola

Luanda, ANGOLA, August 29 - The Kenyan authorities on Tuesday in Nairobi expressed interest in cooperating with the Republic of Angola in the field of oil and mineral resources. ,

Kenya's wish was expressed by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Jhon Munyes Kiyonga, during a meeting granted to the Angolan ambassador to that East African country, Sianga Abílio.

In a press release, the Angolan Embassy in Kenya said that during the one-hour long meeting, the Kenyan official considered Angola's experience in this area to be fundamental and should help in the creation of a national oil company in Kenya.

According to Jhon Munyes Kiyonga, the Angolan experience should also be fundamental for the creation of a legal framework for the monitoring and control of the oil activities in that country.

The occasion served for the Angolan diplomat to make an exhibition on the Angolan experience in the oil sector, noting that the country has more than 40 years of experience in the oil and diamond sector.

The Republic of Kenya has recently discovered oil reserves in the Turkana region on the border with Uganda and South Sudan, and the oil exploration in that area is handled by Tullow Oil.
