Daniel Yelovich offers tips on making a new house a home
Buying a property is a costly exercise and often the most expensive purchase a person will make in their life.
GLEN ELLYN, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES, August 22, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- New home buyers will frequently commit every penny of their savings to buy a property, either in the form of a down payment or toward the purchase price. This, says Daniel Yelovich, a licensed mortgage loan officer and father of two from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, often leaves new homeowners with limited funds to put their stamp on their new house or apartment. All is not lost, however, according to Yelovich. He points out that transforming a new home need not start with ripping up carpets or replacing cabinetry and countertops. Instead, he proposes a series of less major changes and personal touches.
"If you don't already have one, pick out a colorful couch, for example. It's often the largest piece of furniture in a room, so it's a great way to express your personality and make the space yours," says the finance professional.
"Similarly, look out for a good quality rug," he adds. "Pick a theme or color scheme and run with it. It's a great way to tie everything together in a new home, especially if it's a blank canvas."
Daniel Yelovich also suggests putting up picture hooks pronto. "Display your favorite artwork and photographs on the walls. Nothing makes a house a home more than pictures of your friends, family, and loved ones, or work by your favorite artists," he advises.
"Even just leaning large frames against blank walls makes a big difference," Daniel Yelovich continues. "This works with mirrors, too, and there's no need to get the hammer and nails or tacks out!"
The mortgage loan officer also points out that this aesthetic is such that, right now, even glossy lifestyle magazines and interior design professionals are in on the trend and have taken to employing the tactic in their work.
Next, Yelovich points toward lighting. "The right lighting really helps with ambiance, and allows you to make a new property comfortable - to make it feel like you're home."
He continues, "To do this on a budget, look at simple light shades. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors so delivering that truly personal touch should be inexpensive, and a cinch."
Lastly, and perhaps a little more involved, Yelovich says go for a fresh lick of paint. "This is easiest done before you get your belongings in, so there's no better time than right after purchasing a property and while it's still empty," he suggests.
Daniel Yelovich says go for something which matches your personality. "Something a little different," he adds. "If you're unsure, go for something fairly timeless. Either way though, you're still making your mark and putting your own stamp on the place."
"Again, if you're being budget-conscious," the mortgage loan officer adds, wrapping up, "opt for just a feature wall in each room and consider mixing it up by using wallpaper here and there for added contrast and interest."
