Report rules out traditional authorities candidacies in municipalities
Luanda, ANGOLA, August 16 - Traditional authorities must abstain from candidacies in municipalities, whose implementation begins in 2020, recommends a report presented Wednesday in Luanda by the Rural Development and Environment Action (ADRA). ,
ADRA carried out auscultation work in 12 municipalities in the provinces of Benguela, Cunene, Huambo, Huíla, Luanda and Malange, covering 1,291 people, 837 men and 454 women, among farmers, fishermen, merchants, and members of associations, employees of communal administrations, religious leaders and representatives of institutions of traditional power.
The auscultation focused on the municipalities and aims to contribute to the municipal process, recommended by the Council of the Republic, at its session last March, led by the Head of State, João Lourenço, to start from 2020.
Based on the report on auscultation and education about municipalities, citizens discard the possibility of traditional authorities competing for presidential candidates in municipal councils.
