UNITA considers fundamental preparation for local elections
Benguela, ANGOLA, August 1 - The President of the main opposition UNITA party, Isaías Samakuva, considered essential that the country prepare for the local governments process, as a step towards deepening democracy and boosting the country's development.,
Isaias Samakuva, who was speaking to journalists after a meeting with the provincial government of Benguela, understands that the local elections process must be a joint work of the Government and the political forces of the country.
"I am convinced that it is the right step the country will take," he said, stating that local authorities do not need to be discussed because it is established in the Constitution and the President of the Republic has already confirmed that it will take place in 2020.
The UNITA leader took advantage while visiting Benguela to present some concerns to the local government about the situation of the 145 citizens of Capupa who are still displaced at Cubal municipallity.
He also said that 145 citizens have no housing, they live in clusters in small houses, so they all have interest in returning to their area of origin.
