MPs reaffirm advocacy for women
Luanda, ANGOLA, July 29 - The National Assembly (AN) Group of Women's MPs reaffirmed last Friday in Luanda that it will continue to advocate with political parties to meet the 30 percent representation of women on their lists.,
This fact was reiterated by the chairwoman of the Group of Women Parliamentarians, Luisa Damião, during a workshop on the "Role of Women in Local Authorities - Local Elections Legislative Package", warning that the inclusion of the figure (30%) is provided for in the law of political parties.
On her presentation at the event held in the Angolan parliament, she said that there is no true democracy without the participation of women.
She mentioned that women have accumulated experience in associativism and, through their creativity, have been developing in the communities, innovative projects that contribute to the education and exaltation of citizenship.
It is understood by the parliamentarian that the women who represent in the electoral universe an expressive segment are natural candidates to the local elections.
"They have been converting themselves into powerful agents of change, bringing progress to their communities," She said.
The Workshop addressed the Legislative local elections Package chaired by the Secretary of State for Territorial Administration, Laurinda Cardoso.
