Government defends better working conditions

Luanda, ANGOLA, July 25 - Angolan government considers fair the ensuring of decent working and salary conditions to offset the better service provided to the public. ,

 

This was said Tuesday by Vice President Bornito de Sousa.

 

Bornito de Sousa was addressing, on behalf of president João Lourenço,  a meeting with representatives of trade union organisations aimed to address the main issues that could lead to the strike.

 

The meeting focused on ongoing actions to improve the socio-economic environment and quality of life.

 

The meeting also served to identify measures to be tackled and inform the social partners on the ongoing actions to improve.

 

The Vice-President reiterated the 2017-2022 governance programme to improve the quality of public services and the professional development of staff, under the implementation of National Development Plan.

 

In his address, Bornito de Sousa also mentioned steps to increase the value of remuneration for technical and vocational training, mainly non-university training area.

 

According to him, such measure will also halt the current tendency to search for managing and leadership positions and university degrees which do not always match the knowledge or real capacities of their holders.

 

On the world economic and social situation in the last four years, particularly with the steep fall of the oil price, viewed as the backbone of the national economy, the Vice president said that this situation has led the country to economic and financial crisis.

 

 

He stressed that the economic crisis contributed to a large extent to the government’s failure to secure some of the legitimate desires of the workers.

 

The official said this affected the administrative, business and private sectors and the hiring of new workers.

 

He added the situation also undermined the promotion of staff, ensure stability of employment relationship and the creation of new jobs.

 

According to the Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, the Government relies on the participation of the social partners in all areas of social and labour life.

 

Bornito de Sousa said to hope solutions and consensus that increasingly promote dialogue, social peace and economic growth.
