EU and New Zealand complete first round of trade negotiations
New Zealand | Brussels, 23 July 2018
Trade negotiators from New Zealand were in Brussels from 16 to 20 July 2018 for the first round of negotiations for a trade agreement with the EU.
In the negotiations formally launched by Commissioner Malmström and New Zealand Trade Minister David Parker on 21 June 2018 in Wellington, both sides are aiming for an ambitious and modern deal covering all aspects of the trade relationship.
The round saw substantive discussions on almost all chapters. The second round is envisaged in the autumn.
As usual in our trade negotiations, a report on the results of the round as well as the texts tabled by the EU will be published on the Commissions' website shortly after the round.
